A 40 Palms Estates Wedding in Reseda: Sheridi and Greg's Full-Circle Love Story
A real San Fernando Valley estate wedding at 40 Palms Estates: a cathedral veil down the palm corridor, a garden ceremony in burgundy and lace, a koi pond at sunset, and a couple whose proposal happened where they once went to prom.
Some love stories take the long way around. Sheridi and Greg met at their church in Burbank, and when Greg proposed, he chose the Queen Mary, the same ship where the two of them had once attended prom. A full-circle story like that deserved a wedding with family at the center of it, and they built exactly that at 40 Palms Estates in Reseda, a San Fernando Valley garden property named for the towering palm corridor that produced the hero image of this story.
Their favorite memory together, in Sheridi's own words from our questionnaire, is a night in Las Vegas dancing in front of a live band. That tells you everything about the energy this wedding was always going to have.
Lace, Burgundy, and Helping Hands
The day started at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys, and the prep frames tell the story of a family-built wedding: an attendant in burgundy fastening Sheridi's cold-shoulder lace gown, and the youngest member of the party, flower crown and all, carefully helping with the finishing touches.
Sheridi's boho lace gown with its beaded neckline and bell sleeves was a perfect match for a garden estate, and the wedding party wore deep burgundy, the men in matching button-downs, relaxed, warm, and completely them.
A Garden Aisle, Arm in Arm
Sheridi came down the garden aisle escorted on both arms by two men in burgundy, past white folding chairs and a lawn full of the people who have known this couple the longest. Greg's face at the end of that aisle was worth the whole day's coverage.
They exchanged vows in the estate's pergola garden as the afternoon light went soft, and the ceremony wide from behind, her train pouring down the aisle runner into the sunlit lawn, is one of our favorite frames of that summer.
The Palm Corridor
Every estate has one frame that names it, and at 40 Palms it is the corridor: a double row of palms running the length of the drive. We placed Sheridi at its center with her cathedral veil stretched toward the camera, the palms converging above her, and made the portrait this property was born for.
Then came the veil-framed kiss in the gardens, shot through the tulle so the whole frame goes soft except the two of them. Twenty years from now, that is the one on the nightstand.
A Koi Pond at Sunset
As the reception lanterns came on, we walked to the estate's koi pond for the day's quietest frames: the two of them small at the water's edge, the sky and paper lanterns reflected across the pond, and then a portrait under a sky of sherbet clouds with Sheridi's veil spread across the lawn.
The last kiss of the portrait session came under the palms as the sun dropped, and then it was back to the party, which, knowing this couple's Las Vegas dance-floor history, did not slow down early.
