Frequently Asked
The questions we hear most, about booking, the experience, artwork, travel, and our two studios. Have another? We'd love to answer it.
Reserving your date and the first steps of working together.
How do we book?
Reach out through our contact page with a few details about your day or your session. We'll follow up to talk through your vision, share current collections, and, once it feels right, reserve your date with a simple agreement and a retainer. The retainer holds your date exclusively; the balance is spread out before the event.
How far in advance should we reach out?
For weddings, nine to eighteen months is ideal, popular dates in the spring and fall book first, and we accept a limited number each year so the calendar never feels rushed. Portrait sessions can usually be scheduled within a few weeks, though holiday and maternity windows fill quickly, so earlier is always better.
Do you only take a limited number of weddings?
Yes. We intentionally photograph a small number of weddings each year so every couple receives our full attention, from planning calls and timeline design to the reveal of the finished images. It's the difference between being a client and being a priority.
What's required to hold our date?
A signed agreement and a retainer. Until both are in place the date stays open to other inquiries, so if you know we're the right fit, it's worth moving early. The remaining balance is broken into comfortable payments due before your event.
Do you have a second photographer?
Yes, a second (and, when the day calls for it, a third) photographer is available for weddings and is standard on our flagship collection. A second shooter means two angles of every key moment: the aisle and the reaction, the toast and the room.
What it actually feels like to be in front of our cameras.
We're not models, will we look stiff?
Almost no one we photograph is a model, and that's the point. We direct gently and specifically: where to put your hands, how to stand, where to look. You'll never be left guessing. Within ten minutes most couples forget the camera is there, which is exactly when the real images happen.
How does pricing work for a portrait session?
Your session is a styled studio experience with a private, in-person reveal, and you invest in the finished artwork you fall in love with, wall art, albums, and prints. Session fees and collection pricing are published openly, and we run a limited new-client offer from time to time; keep an eye on the banner at the top of the site.
What happens on the wedding day itself?
We arrive early, scout the light, and quietly choreograph the day around your timeline so it feels effortless. You'll mostly forget we're there. Our job is to protect the moments, the look down the aisle, the tear during the toast, without ever staging your day into something it isn't.
Can you help with the timeline?
Absolutely. We've photographed over a thousand weddings, so we know how long hair-and-makeup really runs, when the light is best for portraits, and how to build in breathing room. We'll design a photography timeline with you and your planner well before the day.
What if it rains, or plans change?
We've shot in every kind of weather and venue, and a little rain often makes the most cinematic frames. We always carry a plan B for light and location, and we adapt calmly on the day so you never have to worry about it.
How your images become heirlooms, and when you'll see them.
When will we see our images?
At a dedicated in-person reveal appointment, projected at full scale, where we help you choose the artwork and pieces that fit your home. Seeing your images large for the first time, together, is one of the best parts of the entire experience.
Do we receive digital files?
Digital files are available with most collections and artwork orders. We'll walk you through exactly what's included when we talk, so there are no surprises. Many clients pair a digital collection with a signature wall piece or album.
What kind of artwork do you offer?
Hand-finished wall art, heirloom albums, fine-art prints, and folio boxes, each crafted by professional labs and finished to archival, gallery standards. These are the pieces designed to outlive hard drives and hang in your family's home for generations.
How long until everything is ready?
Sneak peeks come quickly. Full galleries and the reveal appointment follow within a few weeks of your wedding or session, and finished artwork is produced to order after you choose your pieces. We'll give you clear timelines at every step.
Do you offer payment plans?
We're proud partners with Synchrony Financial, offering 0% deferred-interest financing for up to 18 months on artwork (subject to credit approval), so the pieces you love can live on your walls now, not someday.
We pack our bags as readily as our cameras.
Do you travel for destination weddings and elopements?
Always. We've photographed across nine countries and counting, from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to Los Angeles, Italy, Iceland, France, and Mexico. Distance has never changed our standard. See our destination page for how it works.
How does travel work, is there a fee?
Destination coverage includes our travel planning; flights and lodging for the team are added at cost and outlined clearly in your collection, so there are no surprises. For destination work we scout the location, study the light, and arrive early to walk the property.
Can you photograph an elopement abroad?
Yes, some of our most cinematic work comes from intimate elopements on a cliffside, a beach, or a quiet European street at dawn. We tailor the coverage to the scale of your celebration, whether it's two of you or two hundred.
Do you serve both Los Angeles and Dallas-Fort Worth equally?
Yes. With studios in Valencia, CA and McKinney, TX, we shoot regularly across both metros and the cities around them, Santa Clarita to Malibu in California, Frisco to Prosper in Texas, plus anywhere your story leads.
Where to find us and the practical details.
Where are your studios?
Valencia, California (just north of Los Angeles) and McKinney, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth). Both are private, appointment-only studios reserved exclusively for your session, never rented out to outside photographers.
What are your hours?
Sessions and consultations are by appointment, Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00am-7:00pm. We're happy to find a time that works around your schedule, including evenings for working professionals.
What should we wear?
We send full wardrobe guidance once you book, and our studio keeps a collection of designer gowns on hand, especially for maternity. Our dress-code guide is a great place to start, and we'll help you plan every look before the day.
What do you photograph?
Weddings and engagements at venues worldwide; fine-art family, maternity, senior, and dog portraits in our private studios; and commercial headshots, personal branding, and brand stories in studio or on site at your business.
How do we reach you fastest?
The contact form is best, it routes straight to us with the details we need to help you quickly. You can also call the studio at (866) 311-9777 or email info@michaelanthonyphotography.com. We typically reply within one business day.
