An Intimate Los Angeles Wedding: Noor and Sheazad's Garden Vows and City Session
A real intimate wedding in June 2020: garden vows beneath a rose arch with loved ones joining by video, an embroidered second look, and a city session from Walt Disney Concert Hall to the Second Street tunnel.
June 2020 asked couples a hard question: postpone the wedding, or keep the date and shrink the room. Noor and Sheazad chose the date, and their answer became one of our favorite intimate weddings we have ever photographed, garden vows beneath an arch of roses and bougainvillea, immediate family close, and everyone else cheering from a laptop set on a linen-draped table.
What that year taught the whole industry is what this day proved: a wedding is not smaller because the guest list is. It is more concentrated.
Getting Ready, Doorway Light
The prep frames leaned editorial: Noor and Sheazad each in a shaft of doorway light, her lace long-sleeve gown and his midnight tuxedo, and a detail of her blush robe against a bouquet of ivory roses and peonies.
Small weddings breathe differently. With no forty-person party waiting, we had time to make portraits most timelines never allow.
Vows at the Rose Arch, Family on Screen
The ceremony gathered beneath a copper-framed arch wrapped in garden roses and bougainvillea, Sheazad reading his vows from a folded page as Noor laughed and cried in the same breath. And at a small table beside the ceremony, a laptop with a single white rose beside it carried the moment to everyone who could not travel.
We photographed that laptop the way we photograph a ring or a bouquet, because in 2020 it was exactly that: a detail that told the whole story of the day.
A Second Look, Embroidered and Glowing
For the evening, Noor changed into an embroidered ivory two-piece with a sheer dupatta drifting from her shoulders, and the two of them walked the garden lawn in the last of the light. Honoring heritage in a second look is one of the most beautiful traditions we photograph, and this one glowed.
The hero image of this story, a dip kiss beneath the arch as dusk settled, closed the garden chapter of the day. The city chapter was still to come.
Disney Hall, a Tunnel, and the City to Themselves
With the world quiet that summer, we took Noor and Sheazad into a downtown Los Angeles that photographers dream about: empty. She wore deep burgundy against his plaid suit at Walt Disney Concert Hall's steel curves, they kissed beside a matte black Mercedes under the city lights, and the Second Street tunnel, usually a traffic jam, gave us its full length, hand in hand down the centerline.
