A Sherwood Country Club Wedding: Heather and Brandon at the Rotunda

A real summer wedding at Sherwood Country Club: a rotunda ceremony against the Santa Monica Mountains, whiskey in the club library, a waterfall portrait, and a golf cart getaway.

Sherwood Country Club keeps earning its place on this journal. We shared Sara and Ed's blush and navy Sherwood wedding earlier, and Heather and Brandon's summer celebration shows the other side of the property: the white-columned rotunda, the waterfall, and the Georgian clubhouse under a sky full of drama.

Their June date filled the club with light and family. Blush robes and mimosas on the bridal side, whiskey in the wood-paneled library for Brandon's crew, and a ceremony in the round with the Santa Monica Mountains standing behind the columns.

Two Kinds of Getting Ready

Heather's morning ran soft: eight women in lace-trimmed blush robes with mimosas on the portico, and her fit-and-flare gown photographed in the clubhouse's tall windows with the lace train fanned across the carpet. Down the hall, Brandon's groomsmen raised a whiskey toast around the library's leather chairs beneath the club's oil portraits.

When both sides of a wedding party have this much personality, we split our team and cover them in parallel, because the getting-ready chapters set the tone for the whole album.

Married in the Rotunda

The rotunda is Sherwood's signature ceremony site, white columns, a domed roof open to the hills, and Heather and Brandon's recessional through it is the frame that sums the day up: her bouquet in the air, guests on their feet, mountains in the gap between the columns.

Lavender bridesmaids and classic black tuxedos kept the palette timeless, and the petal-lined brick aisle did the rest. If you are comparing Sherwood's ceremony sites, our first-hand Sherwood Country Club venue guide walks through both, terrace and rotunda, and when the light favors each.

A Golf Cart, a Waterfall, and a Storm Sky

Between ceremony and reception we used the property the way members do: a golf cart ride across the grounds with Heather's bouquet held high, the waterfall portrait at the top of this story, and the balustraded terrace with her train down the brick steps and the rotunda behind.

As the evening rolled in, the sky went cinematic, and we made one last frame in the motor court, the two of them small in front of the columned clubhouse under all that weather. Sherwood gives you a different wedding in every season, and we have photographed most of them.
