A Saint Sophia Cathedral and Vertigo Wedding: Laura and Garen's Grand Day
A real Los Angeles wedding on the grand scale: a cathedral ceremony under gilded domes, a train cascading down Vertigo's glass-mosaic staircase, and a blush peony reception in Glendale.

Some couples plan a wedding. Laura and Garen produced one. Twelve hours of coverage, a ceremony at Saint Sophia Cathedral under acres of gold leaf and crystal, and a reception at Vertigo Event Venue in Glendale, whose glass-mosaic walls exist, as far as we can tell, specifically so wedding gowns can be photographed against them.
They came to us ten months out with mood boards ready, one for the engagement, one for the wedding, and a formal list that read like a family reunion, grandmother included, two ring boys deputized. Organized couples get better galleries. It is not a coincidence. It is a timeline with room in it.
Blush Peonies and Crystal
The morning belonged to a palette: blush peonies by the armful, crystal-studded heels, and Laura's headpiece catching window light in the suite. Garen's side ran black-tie classic. When a couple commits to one color story this completely, every detail image in the gallery agrees with the next one, and the album practically designs itself.

The Cathedral
Saint Sophia Cathedral is one of the most breathtaking ceremony spaces in Los Angeles, a Byzantine-style interior where every surface is painted, gilded, or hung with crystal. The hero image of this story puts Laura and Garen small at the end of the aisle on purpose. In a room like this, scale is the emotion.
Up close, the cathedral gave us the veil frames: Laura's cathedral-length lace fanned across the red carpet beneath the iconostasis, chandeliers burning gold above. We photograph these rooms with enormous respect and almost no equipment, because the building has already done the lighting design.

The Staircase at Vertigo
Then Glendale, and the image Vertigo was built for: Laura on the staircase against the venue's shimmering glass-mosaic wall, her mermaid train cascading down the steps like poured silk. We plan this frame with every Vertigo couple, and it lands every time, but rarely with a gown that cooperates this spectacularly.
Our first-hand Vertigo Event Venue guide covers the mosaic wall, the ballroom, and how we time the staircase session between cocktail hour and the grand entrance.

A Reception in Full Bloom
The ballroom carried the peonies to their conclusion: a floral arch over the sweetheart stage, a tiered cake wrapped in blossoms, and candlelight on a white floor that reflected all of it. Before the dance floor opened we made two more frames, the couple at the arch, and a backlit silhouette inside it that closes their album.
A twelve-hour day sounds long until you watch one unfold. Cathedral, city, staircase, ballroom, and the couple still laughing at midnight. That is what the hours buy: the whole story, unhurried.
