A Cabo San Lucas Destination Wedding: Kirsten and Jolan at Land's End
A real destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas: an oceanfront pergola ceremony at Grand Solmar, portraits at El Arco with the pelicans, and a beach that glowed at sunset.

Cabo San Lucas sits where the desert falls into the sea, and Land's End, where the granite of the Baja peninsula crumbles into the Pacific at El Arco, is one of the most dramatic backdrops a wedding photographer could ask for. Kirsten and Jolan brought their celebration to the Grand Solmar Land's End Resort, and we flew down to photograph all of it.
The hero image of this story is why couples choose Cabo: the two of them among the rocks as a flock of pelicans lifts off around them. You cannot plan a moment like that. You can only be ready for it, which is half of what a destination photographer is for.
Getting Ready in Baja
The morning ran on color and warmth: Kirsten's crew in bright floral robes, her Steve Madden heels staged against her veil and a pair of Tiffany-blue boxes, and the kind of pre-ceremony energy that only a group who traveled together has. Jolan got ready in a navy suit that would read beautifully against all that blue water.
Detail coverage at a destination wedding carries extra weight, because everything in the frame crossed a border to be there. We photograph it like the small treasure it is.

Vows Under the Pergola
The ceremony happened in the resort's oceanfront stone pergola, white drapes moving in the sea breeze, flowers on the columns, and the Pacific filling the arches behind them. Kirsten and Jolan said their vows with the water at their backs and finished with the whole party on their feet, bouquet in the air.
An oceanfront ceremony is a photographer's dream and a lighting challenge in equal measure: brilliant sun, deep shadow, and a bright sea to balance. Getting it right is exactly the craft couples are hiring for.

The Beach at Golden Hour
Then the sand. Cabo's beaches turn to gold in the last hour of light, the desert mountains behind the resort catching the sun, and we walked Kirsten and Jolan out for the portraits that make a Cabo wedding unmistakable, small against the deep blue sea, editorial in the sidelight, and a quiet kiss with the mountains glowing behind them.
The whole day is planned backward from this light. Everything else is timed so that when the sun drops, the couple is exactly where the beach is most beautiful.

A Party That Traveled
The reception was pure destination joy: a group who had flown across a border to celebrate, packed onto a courtyard dance floor and refusing to leave it. Those are the frames a couple relives for decades, the friends and family who made the trip, all in one place, all in.
