Pasadena City Hall Engagement Session

We photographed Vianne and Alan’s Pasadena city hall engagement session on Superbowl Sunday.  These two have a great story.  They met in Taiwan among a trip with some friends.  They are having two weddings, one here in LA, and another overseas.  When we had our wedding consultation with them we showed Vianne some images from our red dress shoot we did in the desert, she was inspired by the idea and ordered a red dress for her engagement shoot.  We tell everyone that the attire they wear on their e-session can take the whole theme of the session to new heights.  We loved the way that this one turned out.  We were able to find light coming through the pillars in a variety of locations and positioned the couple to best compliment the light.  Architecture is one of our most favorite things to shoot, so Pasadena City Hall was an obvious choice to be able to create amazing images.  The building at city hall reminds me of European Architecture, and the officials allow photographers to use the property to photograph, which is unheard of for a government building.

We photographed this around noon, and thanks to the power of the Profoto B2 lighting system, we were able to create amazing images for this couple during the middle of the day.

  1. Superb shots. What modifiers were you using here if you don’t mind me asking. I just got a B2, and I’m curious as to what people are putting on them. I love large modifiers, but that sort of defeats the purpose of the run and gun B2 system.

    Thanks.
