This photo was taken on a clear night in Los Angeles at Vibiana Cathedral. If you have never been to Vibiana, it was one of the oldest cathedrals in Los Angeles. The space has since been turned into an event venue.
I came into the reception hall right after setting up my lights from upstairs. When I walked downstairs, I noticed Peter and Sarah practicing their first dance on the beautiful white dance floor. During their practice, he had picked her up and spun her around. What an amazing opportunity for a photo I thought!
I asked them to redo the maneuver, and in doing so we used the lights that we already had set up prior to entering the room.
After a couple of tries, the results were spectacular! I loved the motion that we were able to capture. By balancing the lighting in both color and intensity we were able to put good light on our subjects, and freeze the fast motion caused by them dancing. This image became the center spread in their album, and a large print for their wall. We loved this couple, and they made our job easy by inspiring us to capture them doing what they were already there to do.
