Destination Weddings are some of the most inspiring and challenging weddings that we photograph. This particular image was photographed in Iceland, which is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. Getting to this location was about a 3 hour drive, however when you consider that wedding images last a lifetime, a long day in the car doesn't seem like such a bad thing.
The moss on the rocks in this lava field takes hundreds of years to grow, and is considered sacred by the Icelandic people. Therefore when taking this image we had to be extra careful not to damage any of it.
We helped the bride Kristen up onto the rocks and using our assistant we were able to elevate our lighting up to the same level as her. From there we gave her instructions on the best pose and after working her veil a bit, this was the shot we were able to come up with.
Destination weddings are always fun and can produce an experience that will never be forgotten. This was our first trip to Iceland and I can honestly say it won't be something that we forget for a long period of time. In 2018, we are looking to travel to Scotland and Ireland with a possible return trip to London as well.
