Engagements

Being able to photograph couples as they begin their journey into forever is one of the things that we love doing more than anything.  It is also our chance to really get to know you before the wedding.  We get asked questions about our engagement sessions often.  Here are some answers to your questions.

Absolutely.  This is the beginning chapter of your marriage, family, and new life together.  Missing out on this opportunity will be something that is regretted in the future.  The investment now is well worth it 20 years from today.  During your engagement photography session, we have the ability to set up amazing shots, without guests or a tight schedule getting in the way.  More importantly, the photos that we produce give you the ability to use the images during your wedding, whether to decorate tables, or as a guest sign-in album.  Do not skip out on this opportunity!

The wonderful thing about LA, is that in Los Angeles there are the best engagement photography locations.  There are great urban locations like the Walt Disney Concert Hall, or Union Station.  There are awesome beach locations like Santa Monica, or Malibu, and there are beautiful natural settings, like Griffith Park or any of your favorite parks.  The sky is the limit when it comes to locations!

Good Question!  I recommend a theme!  Take what speaks to you and lets run with it!  Do you want to do a baseball themed engagement session?  How about a vintage theme?  Whatever you want, we are here to help guide you through the style process to make sure your engagement pictures are better than you ever thought possible.  Wardrobe is IMPORTANT!  So make sure you check out our What to Wear guide for info on how to make the best of your wardrobe.

1)  We need to plan our shoot 1-2 hours before sunset.  High noon lighting is BAD, it causes shadows in unflattering places.  It also limits our ability to be creative in regards to off-camera lighting.  In the summer, we try to plan our shoots around 5pm.  Indoor sessions do not have a preferred time frame, as long as there is daylight outside.

2) Avoid weekends for the greatest images.  Hey, we live in LA.  While Los Angeles is awesome and has great locations for engagement photography, let’s be honest, crowds are no fun.  Most of the best locations tend to get crowded on the weekends as well, that limits our creativity in terms of making the best of our surroundings.  We try to only book engagement sessions on the weekdays due to our wedding schedule as well.  There are always exceptions however, so please ask.

3)  Bring props!  Props define your personality!

Now as with all things, our pricing is dependent on the specific assignment.  We like to include engagements as part of our wedding packages sometimes, so if you are interested in booking your wedding with us, please let us know before we quote you.  Our engagement packages start at $199, and vary based on products chosen, locations and date of shoot.
